Hi Gregor, I'm totally with you and I understand your situation. Just remember how much I complained about not wanting to pay for anymore max updates!! ;)
I've also been working on my own for quite sometime now and when you have to adapt your life to some changes believe me blender, besides being the tool it is, fits perfectly into your new budget scheme!

You're absolutely on your right to make the decision you've made. I've seen how hard you work on each of your projects and how much time , effort, knowledge and professionalism you put into each of them.

@the rest of the guys: I'm also sure it's not the end of the world and that someone will be able to take over this project (even if starting it again from scratch). Remember there's also Johan Thorngren´s script. You can check it here:

or download it here:

Though it's for an older version of Indigo (0.4) and I never got used to it, (only U3dreal's was organized the way I also think and understand things), you might also consider contacting its author (since his files are also encrypted) to see if he'd interested in updating it.

Carry on U3dreal!!!! worry not, you're very talented and only good things can occur to you.

That way we would have 2 separate exporters? one for geometry and one for materials. That's actually one possible option to consider. ...but i'm not giving up on exporting uv's just yet. ..scripting is quite fun.. well..at least at the moment. It's like a new toy for me :) But I'm not even sure if i ever finish with something useful. I just keep playing.

Yep, i understand and respect U3dreal 's decision. The exporter has been just superb and i cant ask more. Lets keep the spirit alive. It's not the end of the world. And U3dreal -> good luck with blender !!!

Maybe this could be a project in group, taking a people for every part of exporter. Materials part is easy (I already have almost complete for 0.6) so if anyone wants to do in group...
The UV export is the more complex issue for me

It is a pity that the I2M project want be carried any more by u3dreal, he did a great job! I understand his situation though.
From my part I have some basic Maxscript experience and I wanted to contribute by adding a better solution in network rendering area to I2M. I was writing a small program (working title IndigoFarm) that would handle distributed renderings via Windows service rather than batch scripts (so no new users in Windows should be created). However due to deadlines in my school it will have to wait a while.
Once I'll finish my work I'll be happy to contribute to this project.

not to be a jerk, but really, what if dude decides to charge for indigo.. looks like you wont have anything to code for for free even if you go that route.. releasing maxscript code is a pretty common thing. Look at 99% of the scripts on scriptspot.com. I know of maybe 5 scripts offhand that dont have source because they're either a: bound to plugins parts also used by them, or b: part of a commercial package. You cant honestly tell me you've never grabbed a script off a site for something you needed :)

Not that it matters really, but to perpetuate *free for now* tools (like indigo, and your little exporter), it's a really nice gesture to release code for free to people who've been supportive (yeah, bitching about bugs is supportive, your code only gets better). In the long run, it gets better, etc, you get more exposure, and maybe job offers out of it.

Good example: everyone using max is familiar with meshtools... Do you think it'd have become as popular if he'd gotten frustrated and decided to just dump working on it? no. it's *still* used (after 4 or 5 years) by a lot of people :) If you *really* dont want to code, it's far cooler to just release it, and let people create even more goodies for it.. (kinda like, oh, blender maybe?)

u3dreal wrote:Hi all Hi ono,

well the prob is that i don't use max anymore.. so i would code the exporter just for you ppl... and i'm not willing to do this for free.. anymore.

Since i lost my job i'm fed up with doing stuff for free at least for now...
Since max is a commercial program i assume most of the ppl will use my exporter for commercial benefit... so since i don't have anything from that but complains about bugs .. i'm a bit frustrated...
If you really need an exporter and are willing to give something in return we can talk about that ... ;)

If anyone is willing to help me get out of my "NO JOB" Situation.
I would be happy to hear form you.I'm more than willing to give something. Seems that in germany you are not meant to go for
perfectionism as this might scare of others... poor world...
mediocraty makes its way...

cheers

u3dreal ;)
