I don't know if this is a "bug" or something, or if it is a Indigo or a SkIndigo issue, but I still think there must be something wrong with emitters when dealing with somehow translucent objects.
I attach an image to be more clear.
Here I have some very basic rectangular emitters behind a translucent glass curtain-wall. I have to admit that the translucent glass is a pretty complex material, so I think that the convergence could be slower (or MUCH slower)...
But after a few hours of rendering I noticed that the render generated some fireflies, which wouldn't go away in the following hours. The image attached is the situation after something like 18h of calculation.
Sadly, my pc auto-restarted, so even if I had a separate layer for the emitters (and I would have been able to show you the fireflies more clearly) I only obtained the final image (GOD BLESS AUTOSAVES!).

I'm quite sure I did anything to make convergence correct: the glass panels are detached one from another (2cm), the emitters are something like 10cm behind them.. So I suppose there is something wrong about the calculation. What do you say?

Hi Whaat.

For Skindigo can you add a scroll control to the 'Query Material Types' dialog. I'm unable to look at or size the dialog for material lists longer than your screen.

Thanks

I'll put it on my TODO list. (didn't think anyone used that feature...) :)

Glossy transparent can be quite noisy, maybe the lights behind such materials are amplifying the problem. Try a diffuse transmitter material instead?

They actually ARE diffuse transmitters, that's why I asked you.
I defined them "glossy" because I wanted to make them glossy.

Here is a schematic decription of the material:

MAT 1: specular, IOR 3 (a highly-reflective glass)
MAT 2: phong, IOR 3.8, SU opacity 73 (basically a phong/null blend, right?)

MAT 3: blend
mat A = MAT 1
mat B = MAT 2
blend factor: 0.88

That's it.
Maybe I could share the mat, if it's useful..

i think youre not supposed to blend null with specular. that could be the problem.

(something about delta distribution :?: :!: :? , wait for Nick's reply :) )

I just guessed that if I could imagine it, I should be allowed to do it.

BTW, The resulting material is pretty cool, and close to the real material too.

Moreover, the mat preview shows no problems at all. I think that if it's a material problem, then it should give problems in the prevew too, isn't it?

Installed SkIndigo for the first time and when I then start up Sketchup I get the following error:

-----
Error Loading File skindigo.rb
stack level too deep
-----

Running Mac 10.5.8 and using SkIndigo 2.0.12 with SketchUp 7 (7.0.8656)

I tried removing other plugins but that did not help.

Any ideas on how to fix it?

This is a very strange error. I'll look into it right away.

@mreeves:
It is possible that the bug is related to your sketchup template file. Could you please ZIP it and upload it to the forums so I can test? Thankyou.

I am assuming you are starting SketchUp by clicking on the SketchUP application in your Finder. If instead you are opening SketchUP by double-clicking a SKP file, please upload that SKP file instead. Let me know if this doesn't make sense.

I'm just firing up Sketchup by click on it in my dock (i.e. not click on a skp file)

Just tried completely uninstalling Sketchup 7 and moving all trace of both it and Sketchup 6. After reinstalling, and prior to installing any other 3rd party plugins, I still have the same problem with Skindigo :(
