Renderer's Rings
Re: Renderer's Rings
Why are you rendering at that high of a resolution?... are you trying to sell it on photostock or something?

Re: Renderer's Rings
For what?...
You could always just render it at a lower resolution for the site, you know.
Or if you don't feel like wasting time on that, feel free to send the scene to me.

For my wallGodzilla wrote:For what?...
First attempt at changing focus spot was too extreme so shifted back out a mm and upped the res to A4 size. It's now probably ok but I'm not entirely sure I like having the DoF effect really...in fact when it get home from work if I am not 100% happy with what I see I'm going to switch back to original point of focus and start render again
Re: Renderer's Rings
Well, the DOF worked well (I think), with my render of a diamond in the gallery, so that's what I was envisioning for your rings.

Well it was worth a try at leastGodzilla wrote:Well, the DOF worked well (I think), with my render of a diamond in the gallery, so that's what I was envisioning for your rings.
Re: Renderer's Rings
So I take it you didn't like the outcome?..
Post it, at least

Re: Renderer's Rings
I'm at work...won't see the result for about 7 hours yet. Even then it will probably only be at about 1000spp by that point. Should be enough to see whether the effect is good or bad though...Godzilla wrote:So I take it you didn't like the outcome?..

Re: Renderer's Rings
Oh sorry.
Thought you meant you were already home and had stopped the render.

Re: Renderer's Rings
Just for you Zilla.
I think this is ok. It's subtle enough to keep me happy
...so I'll let it run full length. Should be done by the end of the week. There's still quite a bit of convergence required in the bump mapping yet...
Ono if you like the look of this version then I'll get the full res version to you once it's cooked.
~2000spp. Reduced by 50%.

...and indigo just crashed...so I guess I'm starting all over again :/
Now if only that auto crash recovery thing I suggested had been implemented....
Oh well it's as good an excuse as any to lower the exponent on the gold just a little bit...

Still cant help but smile when thinking about you didnt even know that was possible until I told youWytRaven wrote:...to lower the exponent on the gold just a little bit...
Re: Renderer's Rings
There's an on old saying that applies here I think and goes a little something like this "assumption is the mother of all f***ups"
Re: Renderer's Rings
Aw, no White backdrop.
And, are you auto-saving the .igi file? you could just do that, lol.

Re: Renderer's Rings
If I enable auto igi saving, which I have done, I can't network render because I get crashing on frame upload. Pretty sure it's ram related and there is no mac 64bit build...which I have now requested on multiple occasions with not so much as an acknowledgement from the Glare team.
