My scene from the last Evermotion comp

Post by suvakas » Sun Jun 21, 2009 10:41 am

Hey,
I thought I'll post my Evermotion scene here too. It's from their last competition. I never had time to finish it so it's in very unfinished state.
Anyway, comments are welcome as always.

Ps. No post pro has been made, those are directly from Indigo.

Beautiful renders. The DOF in all of them is great. I can never get mine to behave correctly... do you have any tips? :?

My only real critique is that the texture on the wall and the phone box in the 3rd aren't quite suitable for a close-up shot, and the phone seems to be slightly out of proportion to the rest of the scene. Other than that the renders seem perfect. Very nice work.

PS. is the distortion on the water just a bump map? :|

Thanks guys,

Don't know. I like the wall texture near the phone (a bit too low texture on the 2nd image though). But yeah, the scene has some scale issues I didn't bother to fix.
Water is bump maped.
DOF tips? Well.. Indigo camera acts like a real camera. DOF depends on your scene scale and F-stop settings. Also you may want to turn off "auto focus" when focusing on something specific in Indigo scene. But there really is nothing more to tell about it. :)

Apart from the huge phone, the renders (specially the first) are very cool.

Yes, I did. :D
It was very unfinished like this. I had a lot more stuff planned for this image, but didn't have enough free time. But still, it was fun.

Yeah, it's Tallinn.
It's the current logo of Tallinn (capital of Estonia). Nothing like that was used in 1980. It's all my imagination. :)
But Tallinn really had a part in 1980 USSR Olympic games though. The sailing competitions where held in Tallinn.
I went retro with the model cause the building reminded me the old Soviet architecture for some reason.

Ok Thank you for the clarification + bonus information!
It reminded me also the late 1980 Touristic architetcture in former Jugoslavia..
