ÄÜH.
Let´s process this one!
Some things solved.
When the mesh to scatter has more than 3.3 millions of polygons and a subdivision is setted, the scatter goes wrong.
A clarify piece of code for the trees scattered (modulation).
The no-clouds space of the clouds box has a bit of absorption and scattering. Mie cumulus.

10 hours.
There are some problems with singular clouds (dark borders).
Here you can see what happens with an IOR 1.0, 0 absorption and 0 scattering.
For a null material seems OK. Is a bug. Now I understand why the light is sometimes modify with a cloudsbox...

Solved, a normal(phong) tag gives problem with specular materials of IOR = 1.0... Remove normals from mesh and shading normals in indigo.

Partially solved for this take, but seems not easy to work...
Is fast and clean. Uniform phase function in this one.

The bug is present only with atmosphere simulation...
Investigating...

At last I´m learning to develop the linear tonemapped EXR...

1 Correction of distortion in Darktable. Profile: Canon full frame 35 mm camera (?), objective Canon EF 24 mm II USM.
Horizontal flip.
Output in png 16 bit (I can´t find another format that export the tones correctly).
darktable.jpg
2 Process in photoshop in 16 bit color mode.
Two instances of the darktable output like smart objects.
Bottom, Silver Efex filter.
Up, the instance with the layer mix in color mode.
The Lut (50 % opacity). Is an AGFA film.
Finally (and very important), a displacement of +0.01 in the exposure.

I can´t hate vignetting, is a serial element of the simulation.
Camera with double diaphragm that accentuate the effect...

I opened two months ago a work in progress thread in the Houdini forums called too "synthetic photography".
Sadly is a little late for a promotion of indigo, ...or not?.

Second view over O-SS, seems that the difficulty to change the perspective is not so high...
Some scatters more. Must rectify some things for a more organic look...

Sometimes, aperture is present...
In this case, in a half of hour process, seems to "homogenized with the incoming light to the image"...

Is a non ortogonal ortographic view of a photographic perspective...

Yes, aperture diffraction present but a little weak.
Look at the back light...

I lost the position and setup of the lights...

A bit "buggy".

Seems that the best practice with metropolis and optics is to leave the standadrd parameters of the algorithm. Is fundamental a value of o.4 in the large mutation probability parameter. Is a lot noisy, but is the only way to acquire good lens flares.

Look at this disaster. Lens flares from a reflection of the sun... But is imposible at the moment to acquire the rays of the aperture. Very strange... I must investigate deeper the models. 12 hours.

Working in the cloud shader, without succes. Now it has an envelope dependet in normals of the mesh but i can´t organize it yet...

4 hours with the machine at 74%, and with the standard parametes of metropolis it get slow...
Beauty ... This kind of expression///impression is ... reminds me another times, at a beggining again ...

The retro iluminated scenes has a very high contrast, this happens in real life though...
Or is part of the process...

A play, 24 hours (is dirty still).

I introduce real tanulated spectrums for the glasses and coatings (invented) works very well.
I introduce a milimeter thickness filter (dichroic coated glass from galinette).
I hope to give some solutions (not perfect for sure). When the sun rounds near the cam, things become harder to play. Maybe 72 hours...

I discover why for the cathedral scene the layers mix bad. I used to set up the lights as surface dependency (lux), and it is better for some circumstances to set up in nits unit...

15 minutes. I prefer this approximations. It let me work faster. Maybe 10 hours in 8K is great almost always in black and white, with grain.
