Can you upload the 3ds Max scene with only those models that use this texture or with at least one model that gives this error?

Ok. There seems to be a bug indeed. I got this error with one of my scene too. A workaround is to use OBJ format instead of Auto. It seems that there is a bug in Auto mode. Will take a look at this soon.

I think i fixed it. Will be in the next release.
But for now use OBJ instead of Auto when you get this kind of error message.
