Sketchup modeling tips.
Sketchup modeling tips.
someone posted a SK chair within the last week or so and asked how they could use soapskinbubble to edit it. i was going to reply but now i can't find the thread. please repost here and i'll give an answer as best i can. maybe we can get a SK modeling tips section going as well.
I'll get the ball rolling.
this is probalbly a bug ,but its one i hope they don't catch.
anyway here goes; if you ever wished there was a selection paint option in SK, like i did you're in luck. now i got in trouble with the explaination before so to clarify i'm not refering to painting(textureing) a selection. i'm refering to selecting by holding down LMB and draging over faces to select multiple faces; like a brush stroke. ok, now that the explaination is clear i hope, here's the tip.
use the erase tool, you'll notice as you drag it that the geometry under it gets selected, but is not erased as long as you hold the LMB down. so, with the LMB still held down, hit s(scale), m(move), or my personal favorite and the reason i tried so hard to get SK to select this way; alt+s(smoove), any and all these tools will now effect the selection that may have taken a couple of minutes to select the documented way. this may not interest most people but if you're trying to do landscapes ... and want to smoove a irregular feature such as a stream its a life/time saver. BTW the alt+s shortcut is not default i set that up myself, use whatever you like.
P.S this method is also very handy for post tweaking when use soap skin bubble.
BTW, if anyone finds this info useful let me know.
