I will go for real scale next (factor 100 more)
just a hint, if you create an empty scene using autofocus:

Code: Select all

AutoFocus: setting camera focus distance to 100000000.000000m.
this may be the scale indigoworld is limited to.

what exactly the ground fog is for?
Some kind of distance fog would give the whole scene some extra realism... its sure on your to do list
also trees don't grow in the beach sand, but you sure know this too

finally I'm not the only one who is extremely interested in your progress
(and even more in some visual output ^^ ) so keep on this great work!!

btw: how big gets your exported xml file by using instancing so much?

because trees got deep roots, and would conflict with the salty water of the sea.
bushes and grass have small roots and take water (mostly) from rain,
so they can grow near the sea...
but the sand isn't very tasty for a plants, so they mostly don't.

deep roots? depens very much on tree...

Especially, where wheather is extremely stormy or there is a lot of snowstorms or such, deep roots are required, but I.e. in the tropical rainforest, deep roots would be kinda self destructive:
There is no true humus, the thin layer is just 1 m in maximum....
so, the roots wont get much deeper...
just at the edge of the forest, the trees
1)are thicker
2) have deeper roots
as they have to cope with the wind.

the salty part... I dunno exactly, but I 'think', that there is an exception...

But ok, that's a generator for trees and landscapes in general and not for just tropicals or just exceptions.

any tree that is right by the water or in the water on an ocean beach is dead.
why do you think there are sandbanks or a beach between the ocean and the "edge of the forest"?
some palm trees are the odd exception but thats the exception rather than the rule.
