is maxwell a better renderer?
some good points. those renders are to fknclose to call. imo the maxwell render is a tad better due to the lack of noise in the knot but for a free renderer vs a hellishly expensive 1... there is no reaaaaal difference.
@stompintom yea i spose u got a point there. and there awesome amount of jotero stuff is quite impressive but then again i spose it just shows people with time and an expensive renderer rather than rendering power.
weoweo *goes to get indigo 8 v2*
cheers guys

WOW! that is quite a difference.
very nice comparison but i wonder if that would ring true with all readners or weather there are some that suite indigo and some that suite maxwell better. im sure maxwell fans could find one that would show similar things just in maxwells favour. its all one never ending ball game. i think we just have to settle for the fact that they are both awesome renderers. in my opinion indigo is more awesome than maxwell though

Indigo has in my opinion the most powerful materialsystem ever made in a renderer(sss, dermis, nk, henvey etc.).
Others can dream of it!
Indigo offers three kind of unbiased(hybrid,bi_pathtracing mlt) methods.
others have only one opportunity.
The new BIH stuff and Hybrid stuff is so advanced towards the others.
For me the render quality of indigo is much better then the current maxwell(shadows for example).
But i must say that that the alpha and beta stages of maxwell has unreached image quality.they look so real.... but that was only in the prereleases of maxwell but now?
On the other hand fryrender and maxwellrender have better and more user friendly GUI`s.
What i dont understand is why the others need no Whitebalance stuff.
Indigo needs all the time manually sqeezements

I think a rule of thumb, and this applies to everything I know, is not so much the tools you use, but your quality of doing things. If you don't know much about something for example and you go and get the best tools, you are not going to become better, unless you know how to use them.
Maxwell gallery is set up by the site admins, If you really want to sell a product, you want to show the best. I am sure many users there have tried to have their work posted in their gallery and failed to because it does not qualify for their "sales" standards....
EDIT: Here's a link to a good artist with some really crappy tools.
