The film industry totally dropped that format and uses EXR...
I have no idea why you guys are into that format???
my HDRI images are all in EXR format saving GBs of data...
(convert by a simple action that processes whole folders via PS or maybe even GIMP...)

Personally, I didn't know the things you said, and I'm glad to hear them.I just asked for HDR support because I usually fnd that format sold into popular dvd site resources, and it's a little annoying to convert them into EXR. That's all.
