No light through windows, lights problems

Post by Agone from Paris » Thu Mar 22, 2012 5:18 am

Hi all, I am new here, I live in Paris and I am 33, i want to learn to use Indigo to create virtual home staging visuals with a professional render.

I have begun to use Google Sketchup with Indigo, and I have several different problems:

1) I created windows in my flat , and made sure that the glass material was translucid, but i don't manage to have sun through the windows in my indigo render : do you know why ?

2) I don't really manage to create realistic ceiling lights ( and lights also), they are too weak and i have to put 12 in a 35m² room to have enough light, I think i really missed something

I have other questions but I think that these 2 ones will already focus my time ;)

Thanks in advance for your help, and if one of you lives in Paris, I am looking for a teacher to improve faster ! :)

I suggest watching the tutorials here: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=P ... ature=plcp

That should answer most of your questions.

Thanks a lot for your kind answers :D

THe videos are helping me a lot

I was wondering about which kind of sun, sky, environment did you use, and also for the lights, do you use ies lights or just a light texture from the indigo material database ?
And for the windows, i heard you spoke about "portals", what do you mean by portals ?

Thanks a lot and sorry for my noobness ( but we all have to begin one day  )

Regarding the sunlight through windows, there are two important things here: the modelling of the glass, and the selected render mode.

There's a little tutorial explaining the basics here: http://www.indigorenderer.com/documenta ... ling-glass

Hope that helps :)

Sorry, not all IES files are currently supported, however Indigo will support these in the future.
