Post by tizxx » Thu Apr 19, 2007 12:29 am

Hi to all again...
Suvakas how can I make a colored transparent glass using a bitmap as colors... with your exporter for 3ds max?
probably Indigo don't have this option...

You're right.
Indigo doesn't support this yet.

I think, as long as it's not SSS, it should work...
or was there an other trick behind the frogs in "they have the power"?

ah and Kosmokrator once did a fish-bowl with transparent colourmapped fish... (or?)

Edit:
http://www2.indigorenderer.com/joomla/i ... ewsIndex=1 - they have the power
http://www2.indigorenderer.com/joomla/i ... ewsIndex=1 - exotic fish

As far as i know, then the color of the glass material comes from absorption. I can't find any xml syntax for using bitmap texture for absorption?
Or can you use regular albedo texture?

ps. Those fishes aren't transparent at all.

they are ;)
look at the top fin of the yellow fish.
It even looks like SSS, a bit, but the rays are passing linear.
I guess, it's Albedo ;)
dunno, how/why it works, but both renders show THAT it works.

Ask Kosmokrator and enricocerica!

although, when I look at the frogs, I'm not 100% sure, if they're transparent...

the fish definately are, though ;)

Oh, i see. I thought you were referring to the stamp on the light bulb and not the frogs

I belive the fish image was exported with Maxigo and there is no way to do it in Max at the moment.
Here is the thread: http://www2.indigorenderer.com/joomla/f ... light=fish
Fishes have Phong material.

Ok. Now i get it - hey Kosmo, you're the one who doesn't like readme's right?
Blend material is supported long long time already using standard max blend material.

Taken from readme::wink:
* Use standart Max Blend material for Indigo Blend material.

And actually Maxigo has even a user friendly approach for blend maps allowing you to use alpha map directly from Phong and Diffuse map. Alpha map actually is a blend map too.

So.. Blend maps = supported 8)

Suvakas

Ps. There also will be a separate Indigo Blend material type in next version that supports exporting the entire blend tree into *.igm file, but for now use the standard max Blend material...
