A bad mesh maybe?
Go to your xxx-scene.igs file and search for <mesh_name>your_mesh_name_that_gives_the_error</mesh_name>
and see what's the model name in Max from the comments of the <model> block (the very first line of the model block) and then check out if there is some issue with the mesh in Max. Maybe hide it for trouble shooting and etc.
See if it helps. Also try to export into different formats.
That's all i can suggest really.

this error message is not new for me.
I resolve this problem by creating a new indigo diffuse material,
1) give the new mat to the entire scene,
2) run maxigo export option,
3) when indigo windows open and no error message stop the render, you have to stop the render
4) assign the right indigo mat to all obj in the scene, and start again the render.
If this don't resolve the problem, give to the entire scene a new indigo diffuse mat, save the scene and shutdown 3ds max and it restart again.
this procedure work well for me on my system, I hope to was helpful.
