Indigo crash upon export!

Post by piko » Wed Jan 05, 2011 3:23 pm

hi, i am new to the forum and wish to try this beautiful beast. my only problem: indigo crashes upon completing export. i have no idea the reason (maybe a problem with my scene, but it exports w/o errors when i uncheck start indigo)? any ideas?

machine specs:
i5 CPU 750 @ 2.67
6GB RAM
64-bit OS
Autodesk 3ds Max 2011 64-bit

i have installed the 64-bit version of indigo and maxigo. my scene file is very simple, less than 1mb. appreciate the help

Hey,
What Indigo and Maxigo versions you have?
Are you using any texture maps? Any unsupported format maybe?

Indigo Renderer v2.4.13, Windows 64-bit build
Maxigo Version 2.4

i'm using .png texture files for a wood floor: diffuse, bump, glossy, displace
for the walls i am using an indigo blend > indigo diffuse and indigo phong. diffuse mat has a bump: mix map combining a noise and speckle

i have mental ray a&d materials in my material editor but they are not applied to any object in the scene

i have a daylight system (used as the sun target) and 4 mr sky portals (yes, i created planes with the maxigo-exit portal modifier on them to replace the sky portals), but left the mr Sky portals in the scene

i can't think of anything else right now bcuz i can't open the file anymore. i get this error/message when trying to load

From that screen shot it seems like you don't have Maxigo installed. The file should still open though.

If you get Maxigo up again then try to render your scene with a single gray material and see if it works.

yeah, i don't understand that error either. i loaded up a previous version of the scene > assigned every object an indigo diffuse material and it launched indigo renderer successfully. i didn't re-install maxigo bcuz i still saw the drop-down box at the top. guess i have to start the scene from scratch (grey mat on each object) and then work from there

thanks a lot for the help suvakas, much appreciated!

EDIT: uh oh....everytime i close the scene and try to re-open it, i get an application error. basically, any scene i have that uses indigo/maxigo will not open upon closing the 3ds max session

sorry for continuing issues

Now that is strange.
Could you upload a scene that does this?

i have this issues in some scenes. Did u used some models from chinese websites ? try to select some parts of scene and use Isolation mode and try to render. This is easy way how to find bad meshes which are causing this.

EDIT : CTRL + A and convert to editable poly/mesh and start again.

i've been tryin to add the scene file, but everytime i attempt to upload, it tells me the "The uploaded file is empty."

i tried adding the max file, rar folder, and a zip folder using the upload attachment function--no dice

is there any other way i can send you the file?

EDIT
dcm: no, all the models are created by me; tis a very simple scene. here is an upload of the mental ray version. its not finished...i don't think...but the 2nd pic is slightly lighter than the 1st image
