How fast 0.6 and difference from 0.5

Post by motorsep » Tue Nov 14, 2006 7:12 am

1. So how much faster 0.6 from 0.5 ?

2. Also I tried 0.6 beta before release and I had some problems with following tutorial for Blender. I mean I followed through the tutorial for 0.5 with 0.5 release and I got everything just right. But when I followed through the same tutorial with 0.6 beta, I didn't get blue glass monkey :/
So are there many differences between 0.5 and 0.6 ?

3. Another question: I have desktop P4 1.4Ghz 512 Mb RAM and laptop P4 2.4 Ghz 256 Mb RAM. Where will Indigo render faster? What is more critical for it - RAM or CPU ?

Thanks! :)

I don't know about 0.5 since I started with 0.6. Regarding question 3 though: CPU is crucial and definitely more important than RAM, since the lack of the latter can be compensated by swapping the memory to disk. Long story short: CPU > RAM.

Hi motorsep,

I agree with skypa cpu is much more important than RAM!
I began with 0,5 and now I play with 0,6, I found the 0,6 release really quicker than 0,5. :D
But it also depends on the scene you will render, if you will render something with billions of triangles you will have a problem with RAM.

regards, Phil
