SceneLoader Except : No “Spectrum” element Found in backgrou

Post by ROUBAL » Mon Nov 20, 2006 10:36 am

Hi! I'm a Blender user for two years and a half but I am totally new to Indigo. I have discovered it through Blendernation website,and I have been very impressed by all the images that I have seen.

Well, Indigo seems very interesting. The example that I have seen are amazing, but I can’t achieve to render anything of my own scenes.

Until now, I have only been able to check the xml files provided with indigo 0.5 and 0.6…

Each time I launch a rendering from one of my own Blender files (using the 0.5 exporter script provided in Blender V.2.42a), I get soon this sad message :

Fatal Error :
SceneLoader Except : No “Spectrum” element Found in background element.

What does it mean ? Please can you tell me what is a Spectrum element ? it is a complete mystery for me. Something to do with lighting ?

Thanks in advance !

Philippe.

Salut Philippe,

welcome here :D , please forget the 0.5 version of the exporter.
try the 0,6 version.
The spectrum means that you have some mesh emitters in your blender scene.
please take a look on the reference documentation, there are three possibilities by the spectrum.
If you have Python knowledges, you can also have a look on the exporter script :wink: this halso helps to understand.

(the emitter is not well documented)

oups I forgot something, the background!

Try with sunlight, or with map

For what you described, I just suppose you have a problem with different versions, I mean indigo and blender exporter!
What versions are you using?

regards, Phil

Hi Phil !

I have used only the 0.5 exporter script, because I thought it was compatible and I didn't know that a newer hads been released.

I have used it to export from Blender V2.42a and tried to render in Indigo 0.5 and 0.6. I'm working under Windows XP Home Edition Sp2 on a Intel P4 3GHz with 2GB of Ram dual channel.

Being totally hopeless at programming, I fear Python like I fear snakes ! :wink:

I have deleted all the lamps of my initial project and added only one Sun Lamp : Same result.

I have added a plane with Emit factor above my scene, as light emitter :
Same result.

All my materials have been set to Lambert and Phong.

I must say that I have half a dozen of UV textures in my scene... Can they be the cause of crash ?

Philippe.

Code: Select all

     <background>
      <spectrum>
         <rgb>
            <rgb>1 1 1</rgb>
         </rgb>
      </spectrum>
   </background>
background have to look like this, if not - edit in xml. :wink:

Thanks a lot Manitwo !

I will try it as soon as possible.

-----------

Well, I have done some trials using the 0.6 exporter and Indigo 0.6, with quite simple blender files, and I can render now.

I think that the best way to get a result is to make first a rendering with only simple objects like cubes or spheres, with every materials set up.

This way, one can render quite fast and tweak each material at will before launching a big file and... crashing !

I should have thought of this before trying with big files !
