Renderer market players strategic moves
Renderer market players strategic moves
I'm deeply interested into this market movements, after analyzing all the renderers available on the market, their current status and future plans I did create a couple of months ago the attached analysis.
Size mean their market strength based on their availability of plugins, web hype and render farms that adopt the specific renderer, left axis is the availability on only closed or also open execution framework, bottom the render mode.
Appear a specific movement is in place, at least for most of the underdogs, and Indigo (the upper left circle in the chart) is on top of that. Market leaders still rely on more conservative approach.
Interested to discuss opinions and ideas about future trends.

Re: Renderer market players strategic moves
Wow thats cool. Do you have the same graph but with the different renderers labelled?
Re: Renderer market players strategic moves
Of course I have since I did create the graphics, I don't know if speaking about competitors is allowed on this forum, this is not appreciated in other product forums.
Do you think renderer will go for real time or push for other features?

Re: Renderer market players strategic moves
Very interesting chart! It would be more interesting to see the various players named in the chart.
Unless someone comes here trash talking Indigo or another render engine this is a neutral data chart showing what the competition does. So this chart should not only be fine with the names in it but very welcome.

Here is the full chart, available for comment.
About the market: many are going to GPU solution, interested to know if anyone does have notice about plans to support also https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heterogen ... chitecture.

Re: Renderer market players strategic moves
Wow that's super interesting. I didn't know about vray rt. How do you judge if a renderer is open or not?
Re: Renderer market players strategic moves
On CPU depend if the source code is available or not, on GPU if does work on OpenCL or on CUDAbenn wrote:Wow that's super interesting. I didn't know about vray rt. How do you judge if a renderer is open or not?
Re: Renderer market players strategic moves
Know chatting about strategy is not something to do in public, anyway I hope someone will share at least his opinion about future trends.
