Tonemapping problem

Post by Phil » Wed Jan 22, 2014 3:07 am

Hi,

We have some trouble here with the tone mapping.
First the values of the tone mapping are very different when using a foreground alpha or not (see word document).
Second the values depends ob the size of the object to be rendered.
Thar means that we are not able to use indigo in a batch mode, preparing an environment and using this for some 100 or 1000 products.
Because of this, we need to render the pictures twice and combine them, of course this is really slow!

I hope there can be some solutions for this.
If not, I missed the possibility of the alpha mask present in Indigo 2.0, because this was fast.

Best regards,
Philippe

When using Reinhard tone mapping, I have this problem too. Camera tone mapping works fine though.

Hoi Phil,

seems to me you are using Reinhard tonemapping. This tonemapping algo is per definition adapting to the content you feed into it! A missing background will result in different max bright & max dark areas the tonemapper calculates!
Use linear or camera tonemapping or for a constant output :)
