Diner room and kitchen interior

Post by FoXar » Tue Apr 10, 2012 11:13 pm

Hey guys! Here's my newest interior render, although I don't seem to be able to get the dust away..
Rendered for 24h, 26.000 samples, SSP4 and BiDir MLT

C&C are always welcome!

Hi FoXar,
Looks pretty good!
Most of the noise seems to come from the kitchen lights. Are they using IES profiles?

This looks like a situation where not enough samples are being allocated to the kitchen lights.

One small crit: the flower petals look solid, try blending them with a diffuse transmitter!

Thanks for the comment OnoSendai! Yeps most of the noise is from the kitchen lights, they're just simple emitters and no IES profiles. Is there a way so I can allocate more samples to the emmiters?
Still using Indigo 2.6 though, modeled in SU btw.

Thanks for the crit, I did that on purpose though. SU performs quite slow when there are many materials in the database and I thought "it wasn't worth it".

Cheers!

Emission scale.

In effect emission scale affects both the rays density and their power, so to get a constant density (absence of relative noise) from several sources one must balance their outputs through their attached powers. Light layers control comes as a second step to restitute the desired luminosities, if you own a Renderer license.

Nice render. The all vertical texturing on the chair rails gives it away. Easy to fix though
Nice material(s) otherwise (including the wood textures).

Though I love the white mood, especially if the background panorama is present :D

Thanks for the easy answer CTZn, I never understood the emission scale option a 100%, now I sure do! Yep no RT for me, still running 2.6 though.. Should upgrade my license soon now I have a new workstation.

@ Headroom, Thanks! Completely agree on the texture of the chair! I'll make sure to not make this mistake twice!

@ ninopiamonte, haha, I always use the following excuse for that "but if you're inside your home and it's a sunny day, try to make a picture where the windows don't come out white and the interior doesn't look black. Nevertheless, I should consider working some more on those skills
