Nice work, you could always add a ton of DOF to make it look smaller.

don't use pure white and pure black colors 
A max of 204RGB for white, and a min of 20RGB for black (maybe even higher),
since more extreme values are unrealistic like in your image...

(20,20,20) black looks rather gray
I prefer using phong with 0 diffuse and 1.4 IOR with some low exponent. This is closer to real black paint.

im using 18 for black and 198 for walls. For very white objects = 218 white. Im not using values above 218 anyway
