Hey Tom,
thank you very much for your information!
Did you or your company buy OnyxTree without getting a demo version? Or do you use TreeStorm?

If you need good 3d plant and trees the best choice is dvd`s from Evermotion especially vol. 58 and 61 or onyx tree storm in bundle version with onyx grass but in Evermotion collection you got as well nice textures of leafs, bark etc.

I myself bought OnyxTree without a demo version. As far as I know there isn't a demo version, so I had to take it on good faith. I asked around before getting it, though, and saw some places where it was used very effectively so it seemed to be the right choice...zeitmeister wrote:Hey Tom,

@hcpiter:
Yes, it seems that these are the quickest solution for an affordable price... hm.
@StompinTom:
You're right: I got answer from Onyx Computing and they say that there isn't a demo version available. If I had particular questions, I should ask them.
To be honest: I can't understand that. If I buy a software, I would like to know how the workflow feels to me, because time is money and I don't have the time to get to know a software for several weeks before I know how to use it with effort.
Did you buy the whole suite or broadleaf only? Did you buy the standalone version or TreeStorm, too?
Thanky ou very much!

Yeah, it was quite the risk, though I made sure to look around to see who was using Onyx and what kind of stuff they were coming up with. I badly needed a vegetation generator as I couldn't justify endlessly buying pre-made models of trees, especially if a situation arose where I needed more variety or slight tweaking.zeitmeister wrote: @StompinTom:

I bought the standalone Garden Suite (everything BUT TreeStorm, because I don't have/use Max). It was a bit pricey, but I think well worth it as it very much improved my ability to create nice exterior scenes with foliage.

Hm.
The garden suite for OSX doesn't contain several modelers like the Windows version.
Flowers and Grass aren't available for the Mac.
It would have been nice to have Broadleaf and Grass; the rest is not so interesting to me.
