Re: External PIGS?
I don't think Indigo developers should spend too much time adapting to a render farm's outdated scene handling to be honest.

Fantastic, thank you very much!!OnoSendai wrote:Ok added support for this for the next build.
It will just load the first .igs found in the PIGS file.
That will boost our small inhouse project too.
Very good!!

I represent RANCH Computing Renderfarm.
Could you be more specific on what is "outdated" exactly? What would you suggest?
We have very few requests for Indigo animations. Nonetheless if some customers are interested, we should be able to optimize the preparating and rendering process on the farm.

Re: External PIGS?
Although the terms were perhaps a bit harsh the fact is you only have up to Indigo 3.8.23 (x64)...

Re: External PIGS?
Well, I don't think you support PIGQ (packed Indigo queue), Indigo's animation packaging format. That would probably be a good first step. The last commercial stable build of Indigo is 3.8.37?pixie wrote:Although the terms were perhaps a bit harsh the fact is you only have up to Indigo 3.8.23 (x64)...
Re: External PIGS?
Thanks for your prompt replies.
@ pixie: there are many versions available and one of the most reliable/stable (at least for big renderfarms) seems to be the one we support.
We can update according to our customers needs. For the moment, our biggest Indigo client works with the 3.8.23 (x64) version as well.
@ Oscar J: We actually already support .pigs files. Our special .vui files format is actually pigs files renamed.
Here is an extract from the Indigo specific guide below:
"Scene preparation for a still image project – Cooperative mode To prepare your scene before sending it to the farm, do the following steps:
1) Open Indigo and choose the ‘Pack Indigo Scene’ option in the Tools menu.
2) Load the scene (.igs) to pack, choose a name for the packed (.pigs) version and save it.
3) Rename the .pigs file with the extension “.vui”. For instance, if your archive is “MyScene.pigs”, rename it to “MyScene.vui”. You must send a file with the “.vui” extension, it is essential for the automated renderfarm to detect the file as an Indigo project."
Cheers.

"Choice is good, choice is life"! I would at least present the most advanced and the most stable as optio!JP-RANCH wrote:Thanks for your prompt replies.

Re: External PIGS?
I would certainly hope you do, but again - do you support pigQ files? That's the file format normally used for animation.JP-RANCH wrote:

Re: External PIGS?
We do not support PIGQ files for the moment.

Oscar J> Pigq are for batch rendering, not really animation dedicated, because I do not think that (for example) a motion blur could be used in queue rendering like that. isn't it?
In terms of file formats for animation, it is more something like Alembic, Pigq are basically just a list of .Igs+assets as item to be render.
How ever, I don't know if the .Pigq allow the renderer to mutualized assets like mesh+textures in Ram during the process.

"Pigq are for batch rendering, not really animation dedicated"
Sounds ideal for animations to me.
"because I do not think that (for example) a motion blur could be used in queue rendering like that. isn't it?"
Motion blur works fine
"How ever, I don't know if the .Pigq allow the renderer to mutualized assets like mesh+textures in Ram during the proces."
Yes it does . Also queues have override settings which is ideal for animation.
