another update, 8 hours rendering (with a bit of noise removing).
Got to work on the lighting, it's a bit too dark.
Anyway thanks for the comments !

And this is the ref picture I'm more or less trying to match

And for the final render, I want to beat that maxwell render !

Modelling is almost finished, so one last test render, then I'll post the final render.

Looking real sweet. Nice lighting, must take quite some time to render with all that indirect light.

when you're finished, if you share your xml file and textures,
i'll contribute a couple of days of 2x Core Duo power...
OH that would be great. I can't refuse such a proposition, I'll try to put the files somewhere (quite heavy, ~100 mo). Thanks so much.
At the moment I'm adding the last details (kitchen utensils), playing with dof, white balance, camera settings etc... Wich is much more fun than the modelling part.

very very last test :

this is sunlight without postpro?
Yes the scene is lightened with one sunlamp, but for the moment I cheat a little : for test renders I mix two images : one rendered with the roof and one without (more light --> less rendering time), because indirect lighting takes so long.

whoa man! you're an artist. Don't know why you need Radiance's rig being able to render 100 mb big scenes?? I read somewhere that Indigo crashes with files that big. You must have quite a horse!!!

Amazing and inspiring work!

Hi, are you Benjamin B. (Thora_2097)?
i remember your fantastic kitchen pic from 2005, and I'm excited about your stunning renderings. you think indigo is already on a maxwell level?

Almost there : a few things to add (plates, fruits etc) and I'll be finally done with that kitchen. Then back to the living room !
I think I will render three differents lighting setups : Daylight (like in that picture), flash lighting (very realistic result and very easy to setup), and indoor lighting at night. Not sure I will keep that viewpoint. Anyway, next post will be in finished projects !

By the way : Ono-sendai, thank you so much for that renderer. It is simply amazing.
And everybody else, I'm also very pleased to read your comments.

animelix --> No, I'm not that person ! But that kitchen is quite similar to one I saw on the maxwell forums as we must have used the same reference picture (I swear I didn't make it on purpose !... That's just a coincidence). I never used maxwell, so I don't know if indigo is at the same level. But it certainly is a fantastic renderer... And it's free.
