I was inspired by ianammo's recent render of a poser figure, so I thought I would go back to something I had been playing with and see if I could get a decent render of the daz's victoria 4 model. I posed the model in daz, exported as an obj file into blender where I set the materials and scene. There are still quite a few little things to fix in this image, but its getting there. I would like peoples opinion on the image, criticism ect. I am a bit dissapointed with the background, at the moment its a exr being used for the lighting. I am thinking it might be better with image on a plane in the background, not too sure which way to go with that. Oh, i hope this isn't inappropiate for here. I have tried to make sure there aren't any rude bits showing

nudity we can handle
especially when it's done in indigo! great render man! you don't see many of those done with good ol' indigo!
she's really convincing, especially her pose and look. the flowers and the dof look great!
but it's a wip page and therefor I'll try and mention something: I think it needs something, or nothing in the background... like a real simple scene (tree trunks, wide forest or something, or absolutely nothing (not a hdr-ish background) and the hair looks good, but on top of her head, it looks like plaines with alpha textures...
still., great work pal!

thanks for the feedback, I have two little renders I did. Testing out different backgrounds and lighting. The first is with a image plane. And the second is using the sun sky system. I like the first one myself, nice indigo coloured sky goes with the purple flowers..I change the colour of the grass a little bit, it was a bit too green before..Just a couple of little changes left and I will do a full render...

hi again, Macrob the material for the skin is a blend of a phong and a sss material. The Phong has the bump and texture on it and has a exponent of 30 and a ior of 1.4. The sss is a ior 1.1, gain 10 and 0, 0.297, 0.261 (rgb) ( or in indigo terms 0, 2.97, 2.61 ). And a blend facter of 0.3 (phong/sss). I have found you can play a bit with the colour of the sss material to give either a darker or a pinker skin.
Kram1032, yep the hair is a alpha mapped plane. The hair for these daz figures is always a alpha mappped plane. But it never looks convincing.
Maybe I should have another go with the skin epidermis stuff, I tried a while back and didn't find it too convincing, plus it took ages to render. But I think it has had a bit of an update I think i read somewhere on the forum. And correct me if I am wrong but it still doesn't support textures does it

yeah it has been updated, well the glossy transparent has
use glossy transparent outter layer and specular inner layer.
IOR of 1.4 for both
textures for glossy transparent - I don't think it does yet
it does look better now, see my test renders thread for some examples

yep, I'm still playing with this one. So much for it being a quick little render, lol... Ok, here is the latest one, I have made a few changes to the skin material and built a simpple scene around her.. A couple of simple trees with a large canopy over her, I need to make the grass a bit denser. But other than that I think I will do a larger render and call it done

lar111, there seems to be some patterning showing up in the grass on the left in this latest one (there was a slight effect in the first one, too.) I still like the first one best, for some reason - the only issue being matching the color of the background with the foreground (generally, the richness of the green shades.)
The last image's camera tilt is disquieting. I do like that she's holding some flowers. Perhaps make the dappled sunlight a bit stronger? (Oh, and must you hide all the "rude bits"?
