My first render with indigo. Please help me improve

Post by nicleg1034 » Wed Dec 22, 2010 3:29 am

]Hello. I have been using blender for a little while now. Just recently, I came across indigo renderer (which I have to say is a wonderful rendering engine). This is my first test render of a room. I was just wondering how I could improve it. I am sorry that my modeling skills aren't the best (it has always been a difficulty).

I am no genius, but I think it looks very good already.

perhaps some detail on the floor/wall borders. Beveling on the wall corners?. and a slight bump map to give the wall a scratched-rugged-linen quality. the bump can be ultra small ultra thin, but it will scatter light differently and look more real.
Why is the light so cold? have you played with the whitepoint and camera emulator settings yet?

plus, there seems to be a lot of indirect lighting. I hear MLT works very well there. But can't recall if MLT will get to cook that glass in the fireplace. Did you set glass acceleration?

I feel funny correcting someone who does such a better job than I.

:P

yo

Nice start
Here are the tips i can give you
1 : change the point of view. make it more dynamic (wide and with great lines to read) or more academic (narrow and play with depth of field), but at the moment it is too average.
2 : the walls can be a little phong, i guess u use sketchp ? use the easy UI and set reflection around 5-10 and roughness around 85-90, it will give a satined paint effect (kind of rough glossy)

3 : I don t understand the material of the seats : is it metal not correctly rendered or plastic ?
4 : plants are too flashy, maybe too saturated and too bright ?

Start changing these details, i think it will improve a first step.
We will see after for the rest.

Good work
