I am itching to reveal the project but it's still too soon. I actually fear it won't be much interest to you specifically but I think it will be an exciting project for lots of other SU users.kwistenbiebel wrote:I will only say 'happy birthday' when you reveal a little about that secret project you spoke of earlier.
Quid Pro Quo
On another note, I was looking into creating a simple plugin for UV mapping a sphere in SU (it's embarassing that we need a plugin for this...

DENG ! that would be awesome.Whaat wrote: On another note, I was looking into creating a simple plugin for UV mapping a sphere in SU (it's embarassing that we need a plugin for this...). It may actually be pretty easy. I plan to make this my 'lunch-break' project for the next week or so.
Would that include the possibility to uv-map all kinds of objects 'spherical'?
In a lot of apps the 'simple' uv defaults are 'spherical', 'cubic', 'cilindrical', 'planar', 'torus' and 'object based'. The latter would involve an unwrapped uv-map.
It would be cool to have the 'basic' ones in SU.
Off course, uv-unwrapping would be really cool to have too...maybe some of the other coding wizards pick up on that idea (cfr. the thread on SCF).
Thanks for the info.
BTW, funny how you speak about 'lunch break' coding....you make it look as if coding is easy as pie, which I am sure is NOT.

We might forget you also have a full daytime job to attend. I hope you still find the time to rest.
Anyway, your contributions to the SU community are really something.
There is a new 'wave' now of new plugins from different coders.
I can't imagine using SU anymore without them. (Joint push pull, surface tools, free from deformation and off course subdivide'ndsmooth)
Cheers,
