Problem with Sketchup ivy

Post by vasco » Fri Sep 14, 2012 12:03 am

Hello,
I used this tool: http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtop ... 23&t=36882 to generate Ivy in Sketchup.

In Sketchup everything looks right (see the attached pictures) but when I render it in Indigo the leafs seem to fly around in the whole scene. How can this happen? Sorry if this has already been asked, I couldn't find something.

I tried to render it with SU Podium trial. There everything is right. So it seem to a problem with Skindigo. How can I fix this?

Ok, I tried to update to the latetest Indigo (3.4.6) and skindigo (3.4.4b) version. Now the sketchup ivy plugin doesn't work no longer. (i use SU8 )

I really don't think there are any issues/conflicts between skindigo and sketchup Ivy.
I have tried the plugin a few times too, I must say, and there was always something not working; moreover, support by the plugin creator at the SCF is totally missing.. BTW I think the problem could have something to do with the sub-UCS of the leaf object. Try and check that first.

Hello Pibuz,
thank you for your reply and congratulations for your success in the lighting and material competiton.

I will have a look at the Sub-UCS of the objects and post the result here.

:? hmm, it seems like resetting the Sub-UCS has no effect. So I think I will finish my work with blender and the IvyGen plugin.

Whilst it isn't a dedicated ivy plugin, it is possible to get a similar result using the fur plugin for Sketchup and an ivy leaf component. Theres a ton of parameters to fiddle with so chances are you could make something very similar to what you're trying to achieve.

A basic image attached, with a bit more time you could get a nicer result, but its proof of concept.

Hello,
I found a solution, if every instance of the leaf component is dissolved in parts it works, but maybe there are other solutions.
I uploaded a reduced file. You can download it here:
