Indigo 0.6 promotional image competition

Post by OnoSendai » Sun Oct 22, 2006 11:57 pm

The final Indigo 0.6 will be out soon, once the major bidir bugs have been destroyed.
Indigo 0.6 is a big improvement over 0.5: multithreading, rewritten and improved bidir, tonemapping burn, etc...
So I thought we could have a competition to render a promotional image for Indigo 0.6. Actually the competition will be for two images.
These images can be sent round to news sites/forums when 0.6 is released.

requirements:
* must be rendered with one of the 0.6 tests or 0.6 final when it comes out
* Must say 'Indigo Renderer v0.6', and have the person who made the image at the bottom of the image.
* images must be smaller than or equal to 800 * 600
* The creator of the image must agree to their image being reproduced on other sites.

prize:
* there is no prize :) , apart from recognition, and perhaps seeing your image on some news pages/forums around the net

judging:
* the top two images will be chosen by me :)

renders will be judged on:
* composition: nice and simple please, the image has to look good at smaller sizes and thumbnail size.
* realism: the more photorealistic, the better :) Mad bonus points if image is indistinguishable from a photo :)
* technical features: stuff like dispersion would be good, but this isn't a big deal. Composition is more important.

Time limit:
depends when 0.6 is finished, lets start off by assuming a week,
so deadline is 30th oct 06.

An example of the kind of standard I'm looking for:

Manitwo's can render: simple but effective composition, little noise (yes I know that's hard in indigo :) ), very realistic.

thoughts?

I'm in the middle of formatting my hd and switching to linux, and I have another competition ending the 30th of october, so I guess I'll just try to do a nicer rendering of my lamp and submit it
