Indigo Renderer 3.6.9 Beta Release
Re: Indigo Renderer 3.6.9 Beta Release
..maybe you misread it, ZomB: I set the emission scale of the EXR to 1 lumen (I can't set an lower value), and the emission scale of all other emissive materials to 20.000.000 lumens, but still this seems not to be enough: the EXR layer clears up fast, while all the other layers are still very downsampled..
Then, during the rendering, I push down the exr's light layer value to 0.001 (just not to burn everything), and the other light layers according to a proper value of luminescence, to get a correct visual balance.

Re: Indigo Renderer 3.6.9 Beta Release
Simply don't use any emission scale for the EnvMap at all :)
I use uniform emitter with value of 10.000.000 is what I do all the time for EnvMaps!

Re: Indigo Renderer 3.6.9 Beta Release
In Skindigo, if I use an EnvMap I MUST specify an emission scale.. :( lumens, candelas, nits or lux
Re: Indigo Renderer 3.6.9 Beta Release
Then Export it and change the settings in Indigo GUI ;)Pibuz wrote:In Skindigo, if I use an EnvMap I MUST specify an emission scale.. :( lumens, candelas, nits or lux
Re: Indigo Renderer 3.6.9 Beta Release
Ohh I see!..so I guess that value pushes DOWN the effective power of the EXR map, so that the other emitters can clear faster.. Is that correct?
..If that value would still be to much, I'd have to push it down some more?

Re: Indigo Renderer 3.6.9 Beta Release
Yes, that value here simply controls the emitter power, and you can tweak it down to fit your needs :)Pibuz wrote:Ohh I see!..so I guess that value pushes DOWN the effective power of the EXR map, so that the other emitters can clear faster.. Is that correct?
Re: Indigo Renderer 3.6.9 Beta Release
GREAT Zom-B! It works like a charm!!!!
Thank you a lot!
..moreover, I can actually set the light to have decent power values :D:D:D:D
THANKS AGAIN A LOT!

Re: Indigo Renderer 3.6.9 Beta Release
always glad to help :)
Re: Indigo Renderer 3.6.9 Beta Release
..any of you guys noticed that in the current version ExitPortals don't work anymore?
..or it's just for me?
EDIT
Attached two sample images of my ongoing project

(the quote just to jump back to the previous discussion)Zom-B wrote:always glad to help :)
Now in a different scene (the one of the library) I have the EXACT opposite problem: the emitting materials seem to have a too high precedence compared to the ENVmap! I tried fiddling with the spectrum values but I have to put in 10.000.000.000 to have a REASONABLE (not optimal) balance with the emitters (which are only small soptlights with 1lm power..).
Did that ever occur to you my friend? How did you solve it?
..thanks in advance and sorry to bother.... :(
Re: Indigo Renderer 3.6.9 Beta Release
Set the EnvMap to BlackBody instead of uniform, its a very powerful type of emitter. You should be able to set the values without problem, starting a a gain of 1 or so :)Pibuz wrote:Did that ever occur to you my friend? How did you solve it?
Re: Indigo Renderer 3.6.9 Beta Release
Thanks again Zom-B! I'll try that out!
..anyone is getting the same issue using exit portals with the current version of Indigo? ..maybe it's a SkIndigo issue then..

Re: Indigo Renderer 3.6.9 Beta Release
...well..here too in a much simpler scene..
..so what the heck is going on in the library?!?!? :-?
..gonna check that later and tell you guys..
sorry, for now..

Re: Indigo Renderer 3.6.9 Beta Release
Ok found the problem.
It's some sort of issue showing up when using exit portals, which not only exclude parts of the geometry from the calculation but also have some kind of effect on how Indigo calibrates emission powers.
In the same scene conditions, when not using exit portals I had to put the emission power of the EXR to absurd values; when I introduced the exit portals in the latest tests those values were so high that burned the image to the point it seemed like..inverted. It's been enough to push down the EXR emitting value and scale and it's now rendering correctly.
So, not a bug but sort of a..malfunction maybe?
Thanks for having checked Ono, btw!
