Indigo 0.6 test 6
my 2 cents
i agree with psor, a mutation halt is a lot better than a time halt,
its all about animation on multi-machine render, same mutation = same image quality on different pcs, on other hand, this ask for a render queue, so if someone really make a GUI, i think a render queue is a must.
im no programer so i dont know how dificult this could be.

Re: Indigo 0.6 test 6
Yes, normal smoothing should work, but it's up to the exporter to export the correct smoothed normals.8bstudio wrote: Thanks a lot Ono, best job man!!!
But a question if you can answer me: does v.0.6t6 support normal smoothing?? Or to obtain a smooth object I must model it with many faces?
Thanks in advance!
OT a little
I know this is a touch off topic for this thread but.
This is for an animation. Say you set your halt at ?10,000? mutations or something whatever is good. Would it be faster to run multiple renders at once with the halt on mutations or would it end up being faster doing 1 at a time? Also would running multiple renders jeopardize the quality of the render?

"To be, or not to be" That is a question?
it's ok

First of all: Nick, thanks a lot for your effort!
I wanted to test the 6.6 version and made this render in 2H 23M.

And this were the last few lines of my other window.

Now. Seeing just these lines of text: is this fast? Is this abnormal?
I'm gonna render it with 6.1 and 5final to see the differences.
PC specs: AMD Sempron 3100 - 1.8 GHz - 1.5 GB RAM (a slow kind or RAM) - 512 MB ATI 9600XT

stuff
roger: actualy, that seems to be pretty slow. on my computer i did a render (the vase render) in 12 hours (i am running core 2 duo 2 ghz laptop version) the average microseconds per mutation was closer to 5.33 than 32 even at the 12 hour mark. i admit, my computer probably does run faster than yours because its a faster dual core, but still, you would probably have about 15 microseconds per mutation.
Hi Nick,
I've done some tests with v0.6t6 and found following issue. The following scene contains 5 boxes with blackbody lights inside (from dark to bright)and 1 box with a rgb-emmiter (below).
When I render this scene with BI-DIR I can see some diagonal patterns on the light sources??? This does not happen when BI-DIR is disabled.

Ah... thanks.boweeb007 wrote:I was confused by that at first, too. But test6 works a little different. Basically you're getting more quality per mutation so you end up with a render that's more clear and correct in less time, even though the stated number of mutations doesn't seem to say that.
