It´s not the browser especially but google in common. They earn money by collecting information about people and by creating user profiles to personalize advertisment. Thats nothing special and many companys do it, but no company is as big as google and collects information in such a broad manner as...

Didn't test Chrome yet, because i am using Linux. But after all the news i am quite skeptic about using this browser. I don't like the fact that Orwells dark vision is becoming true slowly and everyone just says: Yeah, i give up my privacy easily, if everything gets a little faster and more comforta...

Good news and information for people with Phenom processors. I got my new Mainboard with AMD 790GX chipset (Asus M3A78-T) today and everything works fine now. With old Mainboard (Asus M3N78-EH) 4 Threads 5 m, 58 s 215136,98957 samples / second With new Mainboard (Asus M3A78-T) 4 Threads 3m, 26 s 362...

I can exclude the thermal throttling almost for sure. The cpu doesnt go above 59° Celsius. But: it seems that the dropping samples/second suggest some kind of throttling. Or is it normal that rendering starts at 370 000 samples per second and drops to 200 000? If it's in fact a bug of the Phenom cas...

Here is the test with Cool'n'Quiet disabled. 4 Threads 5 m, 37 s 226989,50181 samples / second Actually this makes everything even more interesting. While rendering began with 372504,74792 samples / second it dropped constantly afterwards. So Cool'n'Quiet doesnt seem to be the problem either. So it ...

New test, to examine the Mainboards Power Supply for the CPU. I used Powersave-mode on all cores, so that they stay at 1,2 Ghz while rendering. Phenom 9750@1,2Ghz. Ubuntu 8.04 64bit. Indigo 1.0.9 Linux64bit. 1 Thread 26 m, 50 s 47182,24440 samples / second 4 Threads 5 m, 58 s 212512,65286 samples / ...

Ok made the test with native Indigo 64bit Ubuntu Version 1.0.9 Seems like it's exactly the same as with Wine and 1.1.9. Problem remains, so we can exclude Wine from Bottleneck list. (i like this dirty economy talk ;) ) 1 Thread 14 m, 23 s 87600,47573 samples / second 4 Threads 05 m, 58 s 215136,9895...

@Deus: i don't quite get this. What do you mean by "both"? Do you refer to the four cores of the Phenom? If this is what you mean, Phenom would be a weird construction. Like building a Car with an immense engine, but without the adequate fuel hose to support it. But i will try rendering a more simpl...

Speed Test (Problem: AMD Phenom 9750)
Hi all, i just found out something weird. For some time i was concerned about the speed of my system when it comes to rendering with indigo. (See Specs below) To analyze everything i started rendering a simple scene i made some time ago. I used Ubuntu 8.04 (64bit) Blender 2.47 (64bit) Blendigo 1.1.7...

thanks for the replies. @mrCarnivore: there is no bumpmap, since bumpmapping doesn´t work with glossy transparent( some bug with uv map i think, not too sure though). the material is already a sss material, you can look at the work in progress thread. i have a version with more detail modelled, yet ...

Yoda
Hi all, here is my finished yoda. comments and critics are welcome. the model and setup was done in blender, exported with blender2indigo exporter and rendered in indigo0.7 test5. the skin is a bit too greyish, but i wanted to post it without any further work done on it. as soon as textures and bump...
