Re: Simple Renderings Thread
Ha, although believe it or not I hadn't seen yours before. I guess it's a rather obvious thing to do!

Re: Simple Renderings Thread
Do you mean the artifact on the bottom of the screw? Normals perhaps?
Funny that we were both working on such similar scenes

Re: Simple Renderings Thread
Thanks mate
It's only at 1100 spp, but then I am rendering it at 3200x2400. I estimate it will take ~240 hours at the current rate to get to my aim of ~5000 spp

Re: Some help installing Indigo 64 bit Linux
I have access to gcc 4.1.2, and it's a 'Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 5.3' box.
It would be great if you could help me out, but I'm afraid you'll have to really spell it out for me to get it.
Cheers mate.

Re: Some help installing Indigo 64 bit Linux
I've been looking at this a bit more, and it seems some librarys can be installed without root. For example: http://winter.eecs.umich.edu/soarwiki/Documentation/8.6.1/Installation#Installing_without_root_permissions The important point seems to be modifying the LD_LIBRARY_PATH and LD_RUN_PATH variab...

Re: Paper craft: bird in flight
Thanks for the feedback Stur. I like your idea for a crumpled paper ground, so here's a test. I would have made it more of a carpet but I am running low on ram. I think I'll try some different colours for the paper balls, green didn't really work that well. Anyway it's still lacking something, but I...

Paper craft: bird in flight
I wanted to give the impression someone had loving created a paper craft scene showing a bird in flight. No particular reason, I just felt like turning one of my day dreams into a more concrete form. The flowers are held in place with pins, and the birds are attached to a piece of wire. Everything i...

Re: A casualty of the current economic climate...
Thanks mate. I think I can see what you mean regarding the coin. The only visual clue that places it on the ground is the little shadow. Also, it doesn't help that the ground has no texture as it's difficult to ascertain the elevation of the camera relevant to the ground. Lessons for future images :...

Re: A casualty of the current economic climate...
I thought about sticking an I.O.U for €295 in the image, but decided it was a little too obscure. Anyway the image is done (or rather I'm done with the image
) so I thought I'd post the final version.
