if only the rings themselves are visible, i could use blender for that layer as well to speed things up. i might give that a try

sine waves?
sine waves? in what app?
sharpening is good, i like erode better though, i think it does a better job of sharpening the tips of the waves. or was it dialate? can't remember now. one of those.
Also, i guess we should ask... what kind of fresh water? is it in a glass? a puddle? a river?

thats FREAKIN AWESOME.
very 'half life 2'
the only crit i have is the bump map on the water looks a bit CG
so when can we expect a "general texturing tutorial" from BbB ?

thanks
thanks ono. i think im gonna be happy with this when its done. this is a quick render without the rings to illustrate the problem if i add more lights to this scene, they'll affect the robot and back wall (by reflecting in it)... i suppose i will just play with tone mapping a bit, maybe brighten up ...

ok
images. make sure your images are UV mapped in blender, not just set in the textures.. then go to the material tab in indigo , and hit the "convert" button. this will update the material with the image. try to use .png images. thats just a personal preference though, jpg is ok depth of field. there ...

wow
wow it comes with an illustration :D the blur worked out really well. i think i will use this method, but the real problem is that in my scene, the rings are the main source of light. (the scene has changed a lot since the last update) i'll just add in some lights to the non-ring version i think. th...

i've wondered this
i'd really love to see a freeware water texture generator, rather than just using clouds. i use povray to generate texture maps , using waves with noise i think (its been a while).. but i would like to see something specifically for the purpose. getting realistic ripples and waves is difficult.

good thinking
not a bad idea, thanks Steve, i may end up using that method. my only concern is the tonemapping. without the ring lights, i have a feeling the whole image will come out very different. its something i'll explore though.

same problem as Crypto
I was having the same problem till just now i was developing a scene with blendigo 1.0.4 , and indigo 1.0.4 and it worked fine. i switched to 1.0.5 for both , and now i get fatal error : "The Mesh 'CurveCircle.023' tried to use the material 'ring glow' which has not been defined. the circle s a beze...

bad idea
nothing serious here, just a quick model and render i put together to take a break from another project. I got the idea when my dad bought some bubbles for my kids. the bubbles come in soda bottles, and have names like 'grape' and 'orange'. it just struck me as a funny lawsuit waiting to happen the ...

looks good so far
I would put base boards on the wall where the wall joins the floor like these http://www.smithtrim.com/Brodia_baseboard.JPG is your table cloth subsurf ? that might help i like the lighting but it looks kind of unreal. curtains would help alot. maybe use a transparent diffuse material for the curtai...

cool
i like that idea. i just am not smart enough to figure out how to put lights in the scene so that it lights from the bottom. i guess i could use an ies light pointing up at the face.. back to the IES lights, how do i make them not so bright? in the blendigo exporter i've got the gain set to .02 , an...
