I don't think you guys get it. The rendering isn't that big a deal for me. I'd just as soon spend the time work with real wood rather than trying to get an image on the screen to look like a photograph. As far as I'm concerned this thread is really going nowhere. I've seen Podium and used it. It's v...

It's not being lazy. Why model details that aren't important for the application. My primary use for the models I draw is to create working drawings to use in the shop to make real, not virtual, furniture. I'd rather not waste my time drawing details that aren't required. I'll add those details in t...

I fully agree. My models are primarily drawn to create shop drawings. I don't draw unnecessary detail if I can help it.Stinkie wrote:I'm absolutely sure lots, if not all, SU users would be very happy if Indigo had bevel mapping. I don't think the texture is too big for this table. I have in mind a couple of bookmatched walnut planks from my lumber supplier that would almost match. I guess I'll go back to Kerkythea. At least it supports bevel mapping. I don't guess I need rendered images bad enough to bloat my SketchUp model...

Mitered Dovetails
Removed because I've been told that without bevels it's a lousy rendering.

Thanks for your commments. FWIW, the black body lights--there are three that differ only in size, one on the painting behind the camera and two straight down--share the same "material" in SketchUp. I'm not certain of how to separate them. Do I just create the same material with a different name and ...

I only said "orange-ish" to differentiate it from the other lights in the room. I expect it is really neutral seeing as how it doesn't change the color on the ceiling. The orange is obviously from the wood panelling. If I was doing this render, and I'm far from an expert, I'd reduce the intensity of...
