Re: Simple Renderings Thread

I just rendered my first apartment room last night! I sort of cheated and used a blur effect in Photoshop to get rid of some fuzzies. Model done in SketchUp, 30 min render time on each. They're definitely not on par with the pros here (dcm) but I'm having a blast! http://joeflashedme.com/3D/l...

Re: What is the best hardware for Indigo?

Heatsink is A-Ok! Checked Cooler Master's site and it's compatible with the 1155 socket. One final question (for anyone really) Would I notice any kind of performance increase with a Solid State Drive opposed to just a HDD? I've never owned one but I've heard of their uber speed. I'm guessing I woul...

Re: Indigo Renderer 3.0 and Indigo RT

Just voicing my opinion here but the new OpenGL preview and real time rendering in 3.0 is FREAKIN' AWESOME! It's such a big time saver working in SketchUp! Excellent work, thanks guys!!

Re: What is the best hardware for Indigo?

Thanks for the help lycium! :D

Would you go G.Skill?

This cooler says it's for 1156 cpu's but the 2600k is a 1155. I haven't PC shopped in a long while, does that matter :?:

Would a 700w be enough or should I go 800w to be safe?

Re: What is the best hardware for Indigo?

The ideal thing is a relatively inexpensive Quadro (for the optimised drivers) AND a dedicated GTX 570 for GPU computation. Will a Quadro FX 1800 suffice? Here's what I'm looking at for 2 slave computers ATM: http://amzn.com/w/2RB27DDIH4PK8 I'm not really too concerned about the rackmounts (I work ...

Re: What is the best hardware for Indigo?

...well... It's the boss's money so... lol

Do you know if I'll get the same performance with a Quadro 3800? They're so expensive though...

~$360 - GTX 570
~$470 - GTX 580
~$800 - FX 3800

Re: What is the best hardware for Indigo?

This is all great advice thanks guys! I'm looking into building an in-house rendering farm so it's good to have an idea of what kind of equipment I'll need! I'm planning on building two slaves with specs of: i7-2600k 3.4ghz Quadro FX 3800 16 GB RAM Should I buy the GTX 580/570 instead? Why the 570 o...

Re: Indigo Renderer 3.0 and Indigo RT

Very interesting, thanks for pointing that out Headroom! I had bought the FX 1800 last year for a pretty penny and was disappointed with its performance but, 'vivo et disco '. I was thinking of upgrading to a FX 3800. I mostly use SketchUp at the moment so I know I won't see that drastic of a perfor...

Re: Indigo Renderer 3.0 and Indigo RT

I'm fairly new to the rendering game but I just purchased an indigo licence, will I need to purchase indigo RT as well or are most of those features already included in indigo? Also, I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong but I've rendered my scene in "Path Tracing" mode and can't seem to activat...

Re: Recommended GPU + CPU combination?

Strange, we're doing exactly the same thing! I just purchased an indigo licence and am awaiting my key! I would love to know what others suggest for hardware? Our budget is fairly high so I'm looking at adding two i7-2600k 3.4ghz, Quadro FX 3800 and 16 GB servers to our network. I've never done this...
