Hi,
I'm new in this whole 3d thing and I have a problem,I don't know how to make the shadows.I would appreciate some help

If you are new to XSI, I fear you are not even hanging the stick by the right end for a start, kiki.
look for
over the web and register there instead.
Dummy sentence (nevermind it): Maya uses bot (bit ordered textures)

well look a way to create shadows is by creating a light lets say a point light ..and in te property page
activate and check the box that said enable under the shadow property and pull the umbra value near 0.1 .2
so you can see a string showdow play with this value to get stronger or softer shodows
also..you can go to the area TAb also in the light properties and activate the area light ..aldo change the
geometry option to sphere so you can get a better shadows
