SSS scene

Post by Pibuz » Mon Jun 23, 2008 12:06 am

Hi all!
This is really nothing interesting from my architect-ish point of view, but i found it could be useful to see what skindigo can achieve, even in material managing and creation!
So this is just an SSS tryout: i'm playing a little with the different parameters to understand which parameter controls what. I'm building a little tutorial too (english language and pdf format) for the other skindigo users to know and understand the process of creating SubSurfaceScattering materials, and how to manage other substitutive materials if needed.

I find this scene should be useful as a preview scene for SSS materials, indeed. Me and CPfresh are working on it for anyone interested, just to let you know :D

Totally sweet. This is the kind of stuff that was completely out of reach when I started with raytracing. (We were happy with 16 spheres and a checkered plane). It makes my hair stand up :)

I've seen a simliar scene over at the Radium forum, who originated the idea?

It's a great test scene though..

I don't know zip about using sss, but this image is very convincing...almost tutorial-like at its own.
