fake sun+env in 3ds max/Maxigo ?

hello everybody

I need info how make fake sun when I use hdri map. I saw great tutorial
( http://www.indigorenderer.com/forum/vie ... =19&t=5088 ) but for cinema4d but in 3ds max is different because in Maxigo plugin doesn`t work rotation, scale and move in hdri map so I cant change position of sun like in Zom-B`s tutorial

Hey hcpiter,

in my latest Project I used a quite simple technique to work this out:

Simply open the EnvMap in PS (or whatever) and create a circular overlay over the actual sun and fill it with extreme bright white color (different color to simulate dawn etc.).
Take care don't to use to bright white! in 32bit term I use a white around +10 to +12 Exposures.

The rotation issue should be actually a basic function in the Exporter, but well... you also can turn your whole scene, or simply with the related PS filter (forgot english the name -.-)

You can rotate your env map 360 degrees over Z axis if you use an emitter material as your environment. Other directions are not available though.

Zom-B- hi :) thanks for your help I`ll try that and show result in cinema 4d is good to setup like in your good tutorial
suvakas- thanks, yes this is good idea but Ive got map in *.EXR and use as environment not emitter.

You can use your exr inside a light emitting material and then use that material for environment.

here quick result with fake strong shadow sun+env hdri map. It`s work :D

I believe Ono acknowledged the need for a sun+map environment type and mentioned he was going to look into it a while back? Any news?
