I can't offer money, but I can offer a place to store images and such, to take the load of of your server.

(As long as it's less then 400gig of transfers :p)

radiance & ono, have you considered putting google (or other) ads to supplement donated $$? I wouldn't be opposed to this at all. (Blenderartists.com has done this for quite some time to help offset its operating costs.)

Ads are distracting and annoying, i'd prefer to avoid them.

Hey everyone,
Donation amount is currently at $336.86 NZD = $235 US.
This is at least 2 months dedicated hosting, so this is a really good start!
Thanks to everyone for their generosity!

Oh, and for all the poor students out there, don't feel bad if you can't donate, I don't mind :)

Nice, not bad at all....
Hope some more donations come in, so we could do this like every 4-6 months.....

old server

Post by oodmb » Sat Jan 20, 2007 4:37 pm

have you tried yet searching for an old server (not a hosting service) like one that still works well but somebody decided they dont need any longer? some of you might want to go ask some buisness owners about that. if they get new ones, i dont think many actualy sell the old ones. if they dont sell them, i dont think they would mind parting with them for a good cause. I know every couple years my school (and they dont have the budget of a buisness) just throws out a large server and maybe 10 computers.

oh, and if you dont put the adds on the front page of the site, they arent as annoying. as like, a nonintrusive banner add on the side on forum pages or in news articles would not realy be so bad. as long as the content of the adds are screened so they are somewhat relevant.

Is there any new news on this? I was away from the forms for a week, cruised through them today + some searches but didn't have anything jump out at me.
