Technically a very nice render!
However, I fail to see how the chair would hold up to regular use. It looks like zebra wood and with that grain direction it would likely crack the first time someone is going to sit in it.
Chairs like that are usually made out of bent laminate which allows the grain direction to run parallel to the bent direction. Also, tropical woods like zebra wood are usually not used in bent laminate constructions as most of them don't bent as well as local central european or north American woods.

Well, that's the beauty of 3d CG, innit?

@ DCM
Well...I can't argue that
Now I am even more interested in how the frame ins constructed!

@ StompinTom
I would say that that depends on what the intent of the artist is. If he intended to create a photorealistic (with the emphasis on realistic) then that would clearly not be the point of that particular piece of CG.

A mute point in this case obviously as DCM sits in that chair.

Another update on my environment.

Added 5 more tree models (and boosted the export time to 16 minutes), but I think the results are worth it.

~185,000,000 polygons. (There are trees surrounding the environment, not just the ones you see.)

My house is going to be located on a fairly large flat area a little to the right of this point of view.

Now we're talking! Looks great, man! Where are you getting your tree models? I just got Onyx which helps a lot for all sorts of trees.

Thanks!

All the tree models are from Evermotion. Grass is modeled by me (lol)

~14 to 18 hours, don't really remember when I started it, sorry. :(

Ono, I'm not quite finished with it yet but I'll definitely upload a version before I start work on the house. :)

Your environment looks really nice Godzilla!
The trees are wonderful and the grass is stunning: is it a blender particle system in use?

..I'm quite a noob in Max, and I'd really like to know something more about particles and stuff like that: it seems to be very effective when dealing with large half-naturalistic scenes such as this one.
I've got to get some basic learning resource, but time is my basic problem.

...ops..sorry for the off-topic stream of consciousness..
