----Website Issues----

Post by OnoSendai » Wed Jan 17, 2007 6:21 pm

The website is currently having some issues, as we were crashing apache due to too much traffic :)
There's a cap on the number of connections per 5 secs, which will result in 'Service Temporarily Unavailable' messages.
It also seems to result in corrupted pages (images missing etc..)

Hopefully we'll have this fixed soon, in the mean time, try not to hit refresh too much, and generally be easy on the server :)

Sounds good to me, I don't know how long people will keep donating, that is a question. Here's something really crazy but cheap to all users on the website. I mean everybody here loves indigo, we pay shit for it, you know.... why not make a monthly subscription for use of the website at just a really small amount of money? say 1 USD a month, or even better 12 USD a year.....with at least 75 registered users you can get a good server.

Truly, for indigo, I AM WILLING TO PAY THAT.....

EDIT: guests will still be able to browse, but only members will be able to download....

Well yeah, try first with donations, I'll try to donate as frequently as possible, how much? As much as I can....

If that doesn't work, then I guess you could try that then...

Let's hope it all goes fine. 8) 8) 8)

I don't think it's the forum that is the cause, since the peak number of user ever is 34. That cannot cause 100 requests per second on the server. My guess is the gallery :?:

Hey, you're not alone joegiampaoli ;)

I think we should rationalize the amount per person on a monthly basis, say people promise they will support donations, then divide the amount needed by the number of persons who promised and get an estimation of the average donation needed... So joegiampaoli won't have to give his whole salary :D Say any further donation is for Nick, or to improve even more the services here, that is not my job...

Waddya think ?

I think it's the way to go. I'm sure many of us here would like to help somehow. Donating is a very good option.

Thanks Slobodan, but it's not so much the data cap that is the issue, as server load, number of concurrent connections etc..
Basically traffic is at a point where a dedicated server is needed.

Not the problem Ono, this is the least I can do.
I can check with my Hosting company to see how many concurrent connections they can handle.

Don't take me wrong, I'm also for dedicates server and I'll be first to donate I just want to help you without going through all that hustle.

That's really upsetting, I found myself once clicking repeatedly, saying "me too me too" !

Generally speaking, what I do now is to wait 6s between each click. That issue came all of a sudden and, say, is constant now :?:

Anyway, I'm supporting the dedicated server idea if that wasn't clear already, as one's browsing now becomes a trouble for everyone :?

until there is no dedicated server, putting the Gallery on a separated Server
like Slobodan offered is perhapes an option until there is enough $$$ for the dedicated server!?

I Also would love to donate some $$ simply because I love Indigo so much <3

Some kind of Chart that showes the Top 10 donators (like on the Azureus website) or even a a list with all donators would perhaps motive the Guys around here much more to donate, because they get credit by donating this way (or even battle each other wo donates more bugs  )
