My little pony (car)

Post by seanser » Sat Jan 30, 2010 3:46 am

Here are a couple of studio renders of a project I have been working on for a while now, ultimately I'm planning on showing the model in an exterior street/petrol station environment.

The car is my own take on the 60's/ early 70's pony cars, it's inspired mainly by Plymouth barracuda but there is a little Camero and Mustang in there too, I've pretty much modeled all of the exterior and interior as well as a basic chassis, suspension and exhaust system. I plan on completing everything under the bonnet to at least a fairly basic level.

I've been without internet access this past couple of months which is a major pain in the ass and am trying to get it sorted out at the moment. I thought i'd post these as i'll have online access over the next couple of days.

Soo beautiful car, powerful - elegant - unconventionally full of fushion and mysterious.
Nice paint mat modeling and lighting.

:D If u think of it, is it she or he :?:

EDIT
I didn't think anithing that extreme,

Here's another test using a background i had made for an older car model. I realise that it could have used a bit longer rendering and some of the background materials could use a little tweaking but I really just wanted to see how the car looks under IBL.

Thanks very much for the positive feedback guys. I really want to do a professional job on this project and make a good start to the year. I hope in the near future to start making some sort of an income out of 3d so I need to get some nice renders in the portfolio.

... and with regards to the link to the guy who likes gettin it on with his car, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F9ZAhHDv2Oc

For anyone interested in the "studio" setup here is the blender screenshot. The car sits on a ground plane inside a half dome, all of the highlighted objects are mesh emitters but depending on the particular camera viewpoint there may have only been as little as two of the emitters used in a given render. By far the most important light is the plane above the car, placement of the rest depended mostly on where and what kind of reflections I wanted, i.e what lines of the car I wanted to highlight.

I've been workin on other stuff recently so haven't really touched this in a little while. I reworked the interior a bit, the car is pretty much complete now only floor mats and seat belts to do. Here's a shot with the door open and black background, I'll post another later in the off yellow setting. I've also completed modelling a couple of buildings and I hope to have the exterior setting finished in the next week or so, hopefully.
