[Bug] Failed to move file...

Post by Zom-B » Tue Dec 29, 2009 10:36 pm

Since working on a Scene I get quite often a Error with the following message:

Code: Select all

A problem occurred with the scene:
Failed to move file 'G:\3D work\GH House\00 render\GH house v4.igi_temp' to 'G:\3D work\GH House\00 render\GH house v4.igi'.
Please contact support@indigorenderer.com.
This occurs sometimes just right after some minutes and the in this case over night after 5.37h.
The igi is 24.5MB big and also another file with _temp is in the folder... same size.
After pressing OK on the error message Indigo Crashes.

IGI saving time is at 300 seconds... shouldn't be a issue.

Any idea where the problem is?

now what you'll have to do when u rendering time will take 60h and you don't have so much time to seat and watch is everything goes ok?

If u render in network, with Vista then make shure all folders where Indigo works are shared with all rights.
If all computers don't have same users with same password, then Vista wont allow accsess after some time or right away. Sometimes i loose accsess to usb drive, then just replug.

If it's network rendering, then check out if some network device aint crashed.

I had some weird error (don't remember if the same) after paused resume. I paused and did some material preview renderings i think from exporter preview (Blendigo). Or did i press render from exporter accidentally.

It wasn't rendered by network, only on master computer and indigo was running as administrator. I've got quite often this error :/ any ideas?
The god news is that you can easily render everything right from moment when it stops, but you have to remember to enable saving igi files.

just leave igi saving turned off and save igi manually when youre done? sounds like a possible workaround for me. or does this happen with the png file, too?

This occured for me when multiple instances of Indigo where saving their respective outputs to the same file name; there is always a moment when one instance tries to access the data being written by the other, and fails.

I would like a retry function after n seconds (aproximated according to igi size ?). Multiple instances are common while tuning scene up.

The workaround was to rename outputs for each test render.

I'm not sure, but as I remember no.

Oops. Found the problem - I forgot to handle the exception. Fixed in trunk.
I may backport the fix to 2.2 stable. Would this be wanted by people?

Hey Ono...

I don't think there is any 2.2 stable available at this point, so the last version you could backport to is 2.2.11 :?:
Anyway... I would prefer to have a 2.2.12 with this fix included
