Re: [REQ] Backface-Culling!
It isn't! Never thought it be that useful...
Only thing somehow related is Indigo's SubDiv, that has a ViewDependent setting where you can set a Pixel & Curvature Threshold, also meshes outside the camera view also don't get subdivided

Re: [REQ] Backface-Culling!
Depends which feature, but the clipping planes to which the discussion has evolved have been implemented

Re: [REQ] Backface-Culling!
Oops, sorry !
I use 3ds Max 2012 and Maxigo v3.0.7.
Btw, which version of Ingdigo has the clipping plane ?

Re: [REQ] Backface-Culling!
Its in since Indigo 3.4.3.
Your old Maxigo is discontinued, and was rewrite from scratch, breaking any compatibility to the old version:
http://www.indigorenderer.com/forum/vie ... =9&t=11889
I have no idea how development is handled there, since it isn't a official Exporter anymore
The Official new Exporter from Subpixel is still in (slow) development:
http://www.indigorenderer.com/forum/vie ... =9&t=11368
Both Exporters don't support the clipping planes and both aren't compatible to your old scene & material setup!

Re: [REQ] Backface-Culling!
Thanks for you clarification.
So, if I want to use this feature, what is the procedure ?

Re: [REQ] Backface-Culling!
I think in your situation you need to know how your "Indigo future" will look like first regarding the exporter situation.cucus wrote:So, if I want to use this feature, what is the procedure ?
there are 4 "kind of" options:
- stay with old Maxigo version but wait for a new Indigo with GUI setup for Section Planes.
That would result in hand editing exported scenes all the time to render them... sucks hard!
- set your bet on the new 3D Max exporter and play the waiting game.
- set your bet on the (unofficial) Maxigo exporter from Suvakas and play the waiting game.
- Change to a 3D app with proper Exporter support

Re: [REQ] Backface-Culling!
@ Zom-B: Point 4 is sucks more than point 1. Right, so us Max users should change to Blender, Maya, SketchUp, C4D etc, re-build all scenes (even if one was to export to obj or another method - yawn), re-assign materials, not to mention having to get used to a different interface -- all because of inadequate exporter support? That is too much of a sacrifice.
Re: [REQ] Backface-Culling!
I would add point 5:
- Add manually the section plane in the xml code of the .igs file... That should not be so difficult, even if not super user-friendly...

Notepad++ has a wonderful Indigo exporter that gets never out-of-date, and is fully cross-platform : File>Save Asgalinette wrote:I would add point 5:

I'm using it all the time...

I like this point, I use it all the time too .galinette wrote:I would add point 5:

But for the clipping I don't know what is the name of the attributs.
Can you help me Galinette, pls ?

Re: [REQ] Backface-Culling!
Section Planes get defined like that:
Point seems to be the positions and normal the rotation, I can be wrong here.
You'll also maybe need to adjust your IGS further to be compatible with newer Indigo versions.
Code: Select all
<section_plane>
<uid>8</uid>
<name></name>
<point>0 0 0</point>
<normal>0 1 0</normal>
<cull_geometry>true</cull_geometry>
</section_plane>
You'll also maybe need to adjust your IGS further to be compatible with newer Indigo versions.
