bathroom. it's all good but the chrome and sunlight
Hi,
by definition it's not finished, altough i'm quitte satisfied with direction it's going. There are just two annoing issues.
1. the chrome material. The nearest tap isn't maybe perfect but it's shiny. The others chromed parts are just black. Any idea why?
2. sun layer is giving very ugly fireflies (see attached files). Again, any ideas?
SPP factor at this stage is about 9200
thanks
wojtek

Re: bathroom. it's all good but the chrome and sunlight
oh deer! your renders should be clean at this stage. I think it is because you have Sun + emoitters + complicated materials. Do you use >Bidir PT? because i was asking for help about it somewhere in the forum, and it was the reason why i had fireflies like you.
Try turning on MLT it helps a lot.
For your Chromes, i am not expert and not sure of it, but wuen i have this issue, it is because the "NK Data" is not checked in the material editor.
Hope it helps you

GEEZ 9200spp! As Djego said, you should get quite smooth images!
About your fireflies issue, I think it is something concerning the render method+exit portals.
Did you, by any chance, rendered your image with PT+exit portals?
As Djiegoo said, MLT methods work better with interiors, so try to switch to that!

Re: bathroom. it's all good but the chrome and sunlight
hi djegoo. hi pibuz.
thanks a lot for your advises.
Yes i used PT + ExitPortalas. Following your tips I've just started to render this scene with mtl method. It's too soon to tell if it would clear faster (i hope so), but i already can see that chrome is still black.(i checked "nk data" option) So still dunno what should i do about it : (

Re: bathroom. it's all good but the chrome and sunlight
Have you checked normals?
Re: bathroom. it's all good but the chrome and sunlight
You mean that faces are on its right sides? Yes i did. In fact at first i've used 3ds meshes dowloaded from the manufacturer's site (very detailed with a lot of polygones used). I thought it was a reason, so throw out 3ds meshes and i buid them in SU from scratch...Pibuz wrote:Have you checked normals?

Re: bathroom. it's all good but the chrome and sunlight
If there is nothing the chrome can reflect, it turns black...
Is your bathroom modelled completely (back wall etc.)?
It may also very well be a smoothing issue (too lowpoly model with too high smoothing angles).

Re: bathroom. it's all good but the chrome and sunlight
When chromes don t work, i use a mirror material, just a specular material with high reflection and low roughness, and no transparency of course. I set it to a 75% grey, the effect is nearly the same as a chrome
Re: bathroom. it's all good but the chrome and sunlight
My .nk metal was black for really long time on lamp parts that had solid bell glass surrounding around emitter.
On low res rendering the metal parts had many many many faces per pixel.
If shader bump map is too deep for small faces it will get black allsoo.
White noise with black dots around are reflections, what happens if u rise super samples?

Re: bathroom. it's all good but the chrome and sunlight
your noise issue for the layer maybe related to to stuff I told you earlier here: http://www.indigorenderer.com/forum/vie ... hp?p=86847
If a layer is very noisy its 99% fault of having not enough power and therefor no computation time from Indigo.
Again check it by the Flux power or simply change to linear or camera tonemapping and see if layer is absolute black in this mode...

below i attached re-rendered scene.
Thanks again. What do You thing now?

I used MTL --> that helped with firefliesPibuz wrote:As Djiegoo said, MLT methods work better with interiors, so try to switch to that!
In this case Melis was right. I changed material to one wich don't use shader for a bump and it works.Meelis wrote:If shader bump map is too deep for small faces it will get black allsoo

I smell the perfume of a young sexy lady bathing...
I think you should just slightly reduce exposition, the white/almost white materials are all too shiny and almost burned. otherwise i like it
