First "real" project
Re: First "real" project
@ dakiru => I tried your tip, but my mesh is so crap, it just doesn't work... But your tip will be great for other future projects, so thanks!!!
@ ZomB & ZeitMeister => Sorry I couldn't try your settings last night, but tonight I'll have a look and keep you informed!
Other question:
Is there a way to reduce the "depth" of a scene?
i.e is there something like a camera setting or anything else, that allows you to have the objects of a scene less deformed by 3D?
In the present scene for example, the closest chair seems to be very big, whereas the furthest one seems to be tiny...
Something like that: => or maybe just working with a different SCALE could do the trick???
Many thanks !

Re: First "real" project
The parameter you are looking for is the focal length, f
A higher focal length reduces the distortion.

Hi guys!
Thanks a lot for all your tips, I tried them and here's the view with slight changes - the camera tonemapping looks better I think (although a bit too dark maybe), same with the new wooden floor and the walls' texture (although I'm gonna strenghten this one again)
I'll keep improving this view, and keep you informed!
Cheers!

Re: First "real" project
oh... and I started working on some palmtree bark, so I could integrate one or two in this scene - I'm quite happy with the result, please comment too!

Re: First "real" project
I'm really happy because it's the first time I've achieved doing something nice using displacement - all you see is due to the texture only, the mesh is a mere cylinder.
Might be worth putting it into the MatDB one day...
It needs a little bit of tweaking, though.

Hi madcoo !
I catched somewhere you invitation to post here, your palmtree (wich I like) inspired me a request so I'm returning the lift to you
If you see how to comb normals with your application then you're done, see the videos (on Maya) if that helps. Either what I'd be glad to contribute by combing your trunk normals (nothing sexual).
It must be straight tho or with wrapped UVs.

Hi!
(CTZn => I replied to you about your idea, check out your topic's thread)
Here's another version of the project.
4 things to say though:
1) I tried another floor for the swimming pool, but I'm not sure whether i'm going to keep it...
2) at the bases of the tree trunks there'll be something like a round brick layout around them, so the trees don't look like they grow directly off the floor
3) my palmtree leaves don't look natural at all - I'm gonna work on these, but if anyone has got ideas on how I could quickly make them (with Blender), I'd be glad if you could guide me !!!
4) I know the sunshades need smoothing
Note: this is an intermediate render, only 6 hours of rendering, so it's normal if there are many more fireflies than in the other pics
More comms welcome, as always !
Cheers!
