MayaToIndigo 1.1.03
MayaToIndigo 1.1.03
It has been quite some time since the last MtI release, let's get back to the busisness !
The main change is the dynamic editor that will expose all the parameters you need to edit Maya objects Indigo-wise. That editor is called the Indigo Palette, you will use it a lot.
This GUI has been my main activity on MtI lastly, it's not perfect yet but quite operational already. However I have overlooked a bit the rest of the exporter, so after verification it appeared that it was better to prune some unstable functionalities rather than releasing an early but unstable beta. These will be restablished progressively.
so here we go with MayaToIndigo 1.1.03 (beta) !
Read the Quick Installation Guide first, then the Kick In Book Both are a bit expeditory at the moment, however installation should not be a problem and initialisation is not complex either. Usage should be guided by the Indigo Palette, at least it is pretending to.
Again please read the two text files first then have fun, I'll add more educational material soon.
Of course your questions, remarks and requests are welcome, I will be glad to take them into account for an ehanced workflow !

Hey Doug, thank you !
Perhaps the time will come for you
That's okay for a beginning though, visibility will scale with developements.

Re: [latest - beta] MayaToIndigo 1.1.03
Yes, the Palette can not collapse its elements at the moment Arne, but I wasn't expecting that some would remain unaccessible.
Not sure what you mean by "too short", is that the Output pane (there are other settings panes) being too tall for your screen resolution, or the window ending prematuredly ? I'll look into a way to collapse categories, or I'll dispatch the options between different panes.
Good to count you in Arne !

Re: [latest - beta] MayaToIndigo 1.1.03
It's the palette, the window that changes settings by what you have selected :]
I can't collapse anything inside it, nor scroll inside the window or resize it :S
I'll add a screenshot later today ^^

Re: [latest - beta] MayaToIndigo 1.1.03
I'll use your screen cap Arne, thanks. What's your screen resolution btw ? I don't have that problem at 1280x960.
I'll post myself an introductory video soon.

Re: [latest - beta] MayaToIndigo 1.1.03
Oh okay, now I'm sure there is an issue.arneoog wrote:My screen res is 1680x1050
No problem Arne Please report also your OS, as that's the main variable I can think of (when it comes to UI).arneoog wrote:Sorry for the delay, screenshot will come today :]
You are the one user among three reporting that issue, so there is a specific condition with your system.
Just in case, make sure that all previous MtI versions files were removed in order to avoid older procedures to run in place of the newest.
Got error messages btw ?

Re: [latest - beta] MayaToIndigo 1.1.03
Yup got it. Don't worry it's only about a few pixels, that's the last control you're seeing partially
You guys use huge default Windows Themes, eek. With big title bars. Okay my bad I'll check the gizmo size, should fix that. If you care a lot just resize your windows title bars to be 18px high
Now let me believe that you were able to navigate between different Palette Settings panes without changing the selection nor pressing any shelf button...
You did read the guide Arne did you d: ? Sry I'm a bit anxious
And that was bug report #1, thank you !

Re: [latest - beta] MayaToIndigo 1.1.03
Hey Arne, thanks for the good news !
I think there's some simplification going to happen with the Palette height... will update !
I'll add the relevant options progressively Arne, wich ones are you missing ? There are not much left

Re: [latest - beta] MayaToIndigo 1.1.03
I'm not really missing any settings in the list (in the attribute editor)
but it happens quite often that I can't open that list anymore..
Not really sure why..
Doing materials isn't too easy, though..
..absorption is quite hard to set right actually.. ^^'
But I guess you already am going to work on that, right? :]

Re: [latest - beta] MayaToIndigo 1.1.03
I'll work on pretty much everything, yes I presume you mean absorbtion's depth ? Wow !
Default scene unit for MtI is meter, you want to change that to cm in the Exporter settings (MMB) if you model at real scale in Maya ! However absorbtion remains per meter.
Well, when it comes to shading the Palette is most efficient used conjointly with the Hypershade, since the Maya workflow is mostly unaltered.
Using real world data:
Generally speaking, keep in mind that Maya has internally an higher float resolution than displayed. You can enter 0.0965655 in the float field and it will show 0.097, but when queried the attribute will return 0.0965655 and MtI uses that. Scientific notation do work as well (4.6542e-8).
Oh, and if you want to fiddle with mti_settings just go and select it using a new shelf command from yours it is not selected anymore (meant to preserve current selection), apart when it is created by default. That's when you can access it but other than that I don't want to know what you do with it (;
