Re: Black Glass
the first entry has to be "why is my light not working in daylight?" (answer: the former is insignificantly bright. see also, "why is my fart not audible against thunder?")
sorry for derailing this thread a bit, just wanted to point out that new users would greatly benefit from such a FAQ

Re: Black Glass
UPDATED: Latest bidir on bigger scale
some renders exposing it further
MCNR was increased to 100000
The problem remains the same on 1.1.18
If I enlarge the scene (cm become now dm) then the glass becomes more transparent which IMO is odd since a thicker glass should be less transparent...

I can see caustics, they just look like a fart compared with the mitchell netravali ehanced spots.ZomB wrote:nice to see the missing caustics here...
Normals seem busted on the last shots (triangulated top edge ?), check the geometry again !?
You mean the ground I guess... there's no phong in the glass material, right ?pixie wrote: Aren't they lovely?
Phong seems to have some relevance to it...

Re: Black Glass
But they are way bigger ifMLT is to be used, AFAIK there's no problem with geometry, It's modeled from a cylinder, with all the normals as they should be.CTZn wrote:I can see caustics, they just look like a fart compared with the mitchell netravali ehanced spots.ZomB wrote:nice to see the missing caustics here...

It is of some relevance to the glass if you add phong to it, it becomes darkerCTZn wrote:You mean the ground I guess... there's no phong in the glass material, right ?pixie wrote: Aren't they lovely?
