Hello everyone! It has been quite a long time since I posted something here. Mainly because I haven't had that much time and the few things that I have done were posted on DeviantArt instead.
This one took quite some time to render. I think that's because of all the light sources (>1600!) and the glossy transparent material the logo has.
This is a network render on three quadcore computers. I think I rendered the whole image for about 50 hours and after that I rendered only the region around the logo as it remained noisy much longer than the rest of the image.
I you want the full res image just go here:

Code: Select all
Display took 9.14854 s
Total render time elapsed: 127 h, 12 m, 47 s

It's great Olis !
I'm very interested in the region rendering (see my last posted wip, the chromed, front parts of the couch). Can you give more details on the compositing aspects involved, if any ?

+1 for both "great" and "region rendering tricks"

Sorry it took such a long time to respond. I rendered the complete image for about 50h like so:
Then, I resumed the .igi in this region:
Later when I put them together, Photoshop centered the region render so I had to put it in place manually. There was also a quite noticeable line where the region render ended. I removed it the eraser tool and a soft brush.

I am sorry it took me so long to read, thank you for answering Olis !
I suppose that the region could be patched with a transparent border to avoid such a seam (feather borders, for selections in Photoshop).

That's kind of what I did. I did it with the eraser tool instead.
