That's precisely what they're gonna do.
except it ain't gonna be $79.
they are going to try and sweeten the deal, but for a lot of people it's still going to be out of their price range.

Benn:
"There will always be a free version of Indigo. We'll have a proper announcement about the commercial future of Indigo later today....
"
Hi Benn this is a joke, or?
Since when are demoversions called "free" ?
I really wanna buy a licence of Indigo; for Ono(:
But i dont like your (Benn) marketing strategies...
You treat us possible customers like an idiot. Dont think we are not recognizing this.

Since when 1.1.18 is a demo version? It is Indigo isn't it?
Good thing happens to those who wait... you've been warned!

Hey, hey...
Benn made it clear: free version will be restricted in resolution and with a watermark. This is not a "demo", in the strict sense.
And nobody will stop you from using v1.1.18.
Let the guys work and do some money.

Saying it's going to be free is probably not a good idea you're right. Indigo is commercial from version 2.0 on, it won't be free, there will be a demo version that is fully functional but has a resolution limit and the indigo logo in the bottom right can't be turned off.
Nick and I know that the documentation and presentation of Indigo isn't as good as the commercial competitors, but we need time to improve it, that's why there will be the Indigo 100 - 100 early adopters who get lifetime licences in return for having faith that Indigo will become a better product that competes well with maxwell and so on.
As for people who can't afford the full price - I'd like to do something like a monthly fee to use Indigo that eventually adds up to the full price, or a button that creates a render at full resolution.

Will early adopters be able to render on multiple nodes with one license?

They get two node licences when they buy the gui for 295€ so maybe that'll help.

And if you want to use more than two nodes either you use the ranch or... you buy the full fledged version?

Im a pretty poor college student, but I think I can afford it. I mean, it's not exactly 3DS max "costs as much as a cheap car" expensive.
Honestly.. Im happy about this
. As benn said, Indigo has always been lacking in several deparments, most prominently documentation. This will allow better documentation.
Who knows.. Maybe video tutorials?
Are there any plans to look into making an exporter for Silo 3D?

Cool can't wait. I for one don't mind paying for the use of this software and I'm hoping that friday will also announce how to pay and that paying gets us v2.0 straight away
There Ono - no pressure
